FATHER THOMAS WOODHOUSE
Father Thomas Woodhouse was installed as pastor of St. Paul Church in Cranston by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 11. Raised in New Canaan, Conn., Woodhouse earned a degree in aeronautical studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University before serving as an aviation supply officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981 to 1984. Afterward, he worked as a pilot and supervisor in the aviation industry.
Though deeply committed to his Catholic faith, he initially resisted the idea of priesthood. His calling became clearer in 2008 while attending daily Mass at St. Paul Church. Encouraged by a priest, he entered Blessed John XXIII National Seminary in Massachusetts, focusing on late vocations.
Ordained in 2013, Father Woodhouse first served as associate pastor at Saints John & Paul Parish in Coventry, later becoming pastor of St. Patrick Church in Cumberland. Known for his compassionate ministry, he emphasizes bringing people closer to God through the sacraments and community involvement. Now at St. Paul Church, he hopes to continue inspiring faith and spiritual renewal among parishioners.
